Look out, world!

Leah is on the loose!

And after a month long hiatus, I thought I'd pop in again and say hello. We've got some new things going on here-- Jared just built an awesome Purple Martin house, which I need to take pictures of and post for y'all to see. Our wildflower "garden" is in full bloom, our vegetables are starting to take off, Henny Hen is making a recovery (albeit a very slow one) from her run-in with the bobcat, and the weather is in full spring mode!

As for Leah, she's made some progress in the past month. She now has 4 crooked little teeth, sits up completely on her own, and most recently started crawling. She's been working the inchworm crawl for about 2 weeks now and has just figured out how to coordinate left-right and front-back. Go Leah!
Enjoying a beautiful Tuesday outside. *sigh* I love Tuesdays...

Who says kitty toys are just for kitties? Leah and Paka like to take turns playing with this. And by playing with it, I mean chewing on it.

Just admit it. Everybody loves a random chicken photo.

6 Month Stats

And here I thought we'd made some progress. I never posted Leah's four month stats, because... well they were slightly, shall we say, pathetic. At the time, she was in the 10th percentile for height, and 5th percentile for weight. At 4 months she weighed 11 pounds and was just barely on the growth charts. But, after two months of solid eating and some substantial chunk in her cheeks and rolls on her thighs, I thought for SURE we'd made a good weight gain and hit the 14lb mark today. Not so much. At 6 months old, Leah weighs a mere 12 lbs, 14 oz and is 25" long. She's still in the 10th and 5th percentiles, and still hanging on to the very bottom of the charts. But, she's growing steadily, so there's no concern. After watching Miss Wiggleworm get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth, her doctor said she'd be crawling in no time and by the looks of it, pulling herself up on things shortly thereafter. Look out pups and kitties-- the Leah Monster is about to be unleashed!

Speaking of the Leah Monster, here are some pics:
In reference to the remote-- not touching, can't get mad! (Fellow Friends viewers, anyone?)

You talking to me?

I will come get you and slobber on your camera!

In Leah's words...

And now, for a break from your regularly scheduled blogging, Leah will narrate her captions for you:

Eating big people food is so tiring and worrisome!

Rowdy, come closer so I can grab your ear and yank it!

Hey Mom, whatchya got for me?

Oh my goodness! This is terrible! WHAT did you just feed me?!?!?!

Whew, thank goodness I spit that out. Please don't make me eat that again.
(Despite what these pictures might portray, I did not feed our child poison. It was a mushed up grape. Such a drama queen-- where did *that* come from?!?!) :)

So cute and yet, so gross

Why the title? You'll see...

T.G.I.F.

Jared is playing with fire in west Texas until next Saturday, so us girls are at home fending for ourselves. We do ok on our own, but his time away always makes me SO MUCH MORE appreciative of what he does here at home. (Seriously, husbands: If you feel underappreciated, go on a business trip for about a week. You will be adored when you come home.) While he's gone, I like to think that I'll do things like ride Rosie, go jogging, work on a quilt (hmmm, this is starting to sound a lot like my plans for maternity leave!). Check back with me in about 5 days, and I'm sure none of those things will be accomplished and I'll probably be quite frazzled (this also sounds a lot like my maternity leave). Oddly enough, I think Leah actually noticed Jared was missing. She kept turning her head and trying to look around the room when she was eating dinner before-- it's like she knew there was supposed to be someone else at the dinner table with us. She's a smart, albeit temperamental, little cookie.

It looks like she inherited my hair's immediate curling/waving/messy reaction to humidity. Which is a good thing, considering we live in Houston and it's rarely humid here.

Have you ever just looked at your kid and thought, "Sometimes, she's sorta funny looking"?

Ooooooh. Toy!

Leah is famous!

Ok, well not really. But, her cute little mug is being displayed on Laurie's two websites, AND her business card. If you go to Laurie's blog (www.laurieheathstudiowonderfullymade.blogspot.com), you will see a yawning little Leah face in the top banner. And then when you go to Laurie's web page (www.laurieheathstudio.com), and go to the photo galleries link, click on the 2nd banner-- "wonderfully fashioned" and hey, there she is! What a cute little snoogums. :)
