In the briefest of summaries, we've been living here in Alvin/Liverpool area for 2 years now. Most of you have already seen these photos, but I thought I'd go ahead and post them anyway so people could get a glimpse of what we've been up to. As most of you know, we're not big on being inside (except for in the summer when it's BRUTALLY hot and humid), so there really aren't many photos of our house. Instead, I've included photos of our yard-- it's what takes up most of our time. Who knew managing 5 acres could be so much trouble?? (And it woudn't be if the horses weren't involved, but they eat a lot and that makes pasture-care a lot of work for us. Who am I kidding... for Jared.)
Also, just to point out, it's not that I don't love our kitties, but let's face it-- they don't do as many entertaining things as the dogs and horses. As a result, their photos are few and far between (if any!). But I promise I will put pictures up if I catch them doing anything cute! One of these days I'll have to get photo evidence of Bosley taking out his anger on the ping pong table legs. What a character.
Anyway, I digress! They say pictures are worth 1,000 words, so here's a mini-novel for you!
The largest project we've done so far is build our barn. Jared did an awesome job with it-- who knew he had such carpentry skills?!? Most of the materials are recycled. And if you notice, the pictures were taken over many seasons. This project took almost a year and a half for us to complete! There are 2 areas for fowl, if you will (chickens, turkeys, ducks, whatever strikes our fancy), and a horse area and hay storage.
This was the first major chunk we finished.
Finishing up the inside horse area. It was SO COLD and WINDY when we were working that night (of course, it was December, so cold weather is somewhat expected).
Ta da!!! Ok, so you can't really see detail in this photo, but it's pretty awesome! The girls are happy to have a place away from the sun (in the summer) and wind (in the winter).
Heidi and Rowdy wanted to help with the building, but they got distracted with a rowsing game of Tug of war.
As you can see, Rowdy won.
